Amey Bhatkal struck twice in the second period to steer Air India Under-19 to a convincing 2-0 win against Sellebrity SC in a Super Division play-off match of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) league 2015-2016, and played at the Poisur Gymkhana ground, Kandivali on Wednesday. After a barren first half, Amey scored in the 50th minute to give the Air India lads the lead. He struck once again in the 71st minute to double the lead and put his team firmly on the road to victory.
Later in the day, Dena Bank had things much their own way as they romped to a facile 3-1 win against Mumbai FC Under-19 in another pay-off encounter. Noel Rodrigues got the opening two goals and Arafat Ansari the third for the victors, while Digvijay Yadav pulled one back for the young Mumbai side.
Result – Super Division (play-off): Air India Under-19 2 (Amey Bhatkal 2) beat Sellebrity SC 0.
Dena Bank 3 (Noel Rodrigues 2, Arafat Ansari) beat Mumbai FC Under-19 1 (Digvijay Yadav).
