A fine all-round performance from Heeya Pandit was the highlight as Team-B recorded a convincing 8-wicket win against Team-C in first round match of the first MCA Girls’ under-15 cricket tournament organised by Jolly Gymkhana under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Jolly Gymkhana ground, Ghatkopar on Friday.
Team-C choosing to bat first after winning the toss lost wickets at regular intervals, before lower-order bat Akshya Shinde made a steady 23 runs before their innings close at 121 all out in 36.5 over Deepali Karlekar scored 20 runs while Heeya claimed 3 wickets for just 13 runs.
In reply, Team-B started shakily and lost both openers Sanmaya Upadhyay (16 runs) and Dhanashree Lavande (2 runs) with just 33 runs on the board. But, number 3 bat Sharanya Singh 33 not out and Heeya with a solid 47 unbeaten knock ensure Team-B easily crossed the finish line scoring 122 for 2 wickets in 25.5 overs.
Brief scores: Team C 121 all out, 36.5 overs (Akshya Shinde 23, Deepali Karlekar 20; Heeya Pandit 3/13, Trisha Parmar 2/36) lost to Team-B 122 for 2 wickets, 25.5 overs (Heeya Pandit 47*, Sharanya Singh 33*). Team B won by 8 wickets.
