Future Star Academy struck good form and managed to snatch a tight 2-1 win against Goregaon Sports Club in a keenly contested First Division play-off match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Tuesday morning. Enterprising striker Alex Jena struck both the goals for Future Star, while Harris Choudhary scored for the Goregaon team.
In the match played between evenly matched teams, Future Star Academy scored two goals, one in each half to come out trumps, while Goregaon SC managed just one strike and finished on the losing side.
Future Star grabbed the advantage when Jena scored the first goal of the match in the 24th minute to take a 1-0 lead. But, the spirited Goregaon outfit fought well and on the stroke of half time restored parity with Choudhary scoring the equalizing goal and went into the break on level terms at 1-all.
In the second session both teams continued to press forward in search of scoring more goals before Jena once again found the back of the Goregaon SC net late in the match and secured Future Star’s win.
In another match of the same division, Soccer Saga SA got the better of Ex-Servicemen SC by a narrow 1-0 margin. Striker Aniket Lad scored the decisive winning goal to help Soccer Saga emerge victors and to collect the full three points.
