Alden Naronha from Savio Sports Club, (Andheri) and Rashmi Sheregar from Gupta SA, (Kandivali) were teh toast of goodly crowd of over 2000 strong crowd, as the sprint champions won their respective 100m runs in style on the opening day of the Mumbai District Annual Athletic Championships, held at Sports Authority of India, Kandivali, here today.

Alden clocked 11-2 seconds, as he pipped Sahib Singh from Prabhodan(Gorgaon) at the tape.Even the third-placed Akilesh Singh( also from Prabhodan, Goregaon) finished close third. However, Alden,admitted that it was not his best effort as his best timing this season was 10.7 secs in the National championships.
Rashmi too did not have to exert herself much as she won the sprint in 12.2 secs, “I could not improve upon my best timing as there was hardly any opposition.”

GIRLS: U-20: 100m: Rashmi Sheregar (Gupta SA,Kandivali)- 12.2 secs. U-18: Antima Gupta (SAI, Kandivali)- 13.0 secs. 800m: Aishwarya Mishra (Abhuday SA, Mulund) – 2:17.4 sec –NMR (Old record- 2:31.4 secs).
