The combined all-round performances from Akash Parkar and Vinayak Bhoir powered Karnatak Sporting Association to comfortable 88 runs victory against P.J. Hindu Gymkhana in a second round league match of the MCA organsied Padmakar Talim Shield (T20) Cricket Tournament 2020-2021 played at the MCA ground, BKC on Sunday. This was Karnatak’s second consecutive win after their 3-wicket win against Victory CC on Saturday.
Mumbai Police Cricket Club also registered their second straight win recording a thumping 10-wicket win against Dadar Parsi Colony SC in another second round clash played at the Cricket Club of India ground. The policemen had earlier defeated Regal CC by 6-wickets.
Karnatak SA bolstered by solid batting displays from middle order batsmen Parkar 75 runs (50b, 6×4, 3×6) and Vinayak Bhoir 46 runs (20b, 5×4, 3×6) and along with number 3 bat Eknath Kerkar 44 (33b, 6×4, 1×6) amassed a challenging total of for 5 wickets from their 20 overs after being sent in to bat first.
In response, Hindu Gymkhana batsmen struggled against some disciplined opposition bowling and were bundled out for 104 in 17.5 overs. Anup Revandkar 37 runs (19b, 4×4, 3×6) was the lone batter who defied the rival attack. Medium pacer Parkar (3 for 14), left-arm spinners Vinayak Bhoir (2 for 21) and Ankeet Chavan (2 for 3) and off-spinner Tanush Kotian (2 for 26) shared the wickets.
Mumbai Police electing to field first dismissed Dadar Parsi for a low score of 71 runs in 15 overs. Varad Vaze (13 runs) and Fahim A. (11 runs) were the only batsmen to get double digit scores. Medium pacer Nadeem Shaikh (4 for 15) and left arm spinner Pushkaraj Chavan (2 for 9) did most of the damage. In reply, Mumbai Police comfortably reached the winning target making 72 runs without losing a wicket. Openers Shrikant Limbole 28 not out (24b, 5×4) and Anup Fulper 38 not out (26b, 6×4) batted confidently to see the policemen easily cross the finish line.
