Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar’s presence inspired the 1500 plus participants, children and their parents, during the The Sports Gurukul Schoolathon, organized by TSG, Mumbai.
The race, which was held in support of the Fit India Movement, was a special run for families at the L.S. Raheja College ground, Santacruz.
The Indian all-round cricketer Agarkar and wife Fatema, who is a renowned educationist, whole-heartedly supported the event. Agarkar flagged off the race and later, he and Fatema were seen cheering and egging on the runners.
“I am very happy to see so many youngsters and parents wake early on a Sunday morning and participate in a running event. This is the key to a fitter India when more and more children and families take up fitness as a part of daily life style,” he mentioned.
Jay Shah, Founder & Director of The Sports Gurukul, said, “after a marathon three years of planning our initiative was finally set in motion and was an instant success. The Sports Gurukul Schoolathon in support of fit India movement was an ideal platform for kids and families to run together and enjoy the joy of running to stay fit.”
“With the amazing response we received. I am determined to take TSG Schoolathon it to the next level, making a national wide movement in the coming years,” Shah added.
Trophies and prizes were presented to the winners, runners-up and second runners-up, in all the categories.
