Aditya Agrawal, Ankit Thakkar record convincing wins


Matunga Gym 6-Red snooker report:

 

Aditya Agrawal and Ankit Thakkar, both from Matunga Gymkhana, were in impressive form and breezed into the third round by notching up convincing 4-0 victories in their respective second round, best-of-7 frames, matches in the Matunga Gymkhana 6-Red Open Snooker Tournament 2018, sponsored and hosted by Matunga Gymkhana, under the auspices of BSAM and played at the gymkhana’s billiards hall.

Playing in familiar surroundings, Aditya enjoyed a good run of the balls and completely dominated his opponent Sahid Sayyed of Stic Club, Goregaon. Aditya quickly pocketed the first frame and face a bit of resistance as he also won the second. He then constructed a break of 43 in winning the third before going on to take the next to wrap up the match, with the frame scores reading 43-0, 36-19, 43-8 and 48-13.

 

Ankit also playing on the home tables quickly settled down into a rhythm and brushed aside Aditya Thakkar of Dombivali Gymkhana who was unable to offer much of a challenge. Ankit started with a bang and in breaks of 32 and 21 to convincingly win the first frame. He then maintained the momentum and went on to win the next three frames to close out the match posting a 57-0, 40-13, 46-21 and 48-33 win.

 

Meanwhile, Dhaval Kenia also from Matunga Gymkhana did well to prevailed over Sanjiv Bijlani of Park Club by a 4-3 margin in an absorbing second round clash. In a match of fluctuating fortunes, Kenia trailed 2-3, but he showed excellent fighting spirit by snatching the last two frames to clinch a deserving 1-50, 41-13, 44-21, 9-50, 6-45, 34-26 and 41-24 victory to join Aditya and Ankit in the third round.
