Govind, Mukund, Madhusudan, Vasudev, Shyam; these are a few of the many names of Lord Shri-Krishna, who is probably the most popular Hindu god. Krishna, has been central part of many mythological stories and also has been a favourite subject for the performing arts fraternity for umpteen number of years. The Indian classical dances draw heavily from Krishna’s life. Krishna-leela, Raas-leela, Radha-Gopis, Meera’s worshiping, Bhagwad Geeta recital in the midst of Mahabharata war etc have been popular subjects with performers.
In the above tradition of depiction of Lord Krishna’s life through arts, SPARCH, with the support of Ministry of Culture of Government of India and Sindhu Natya Rang, is putting together a musical drama titled ‘Shri Krishna – The Soul Of Life’ which covers Lord Krishna’s different ‘leelas’ i.e. Baal Leela, Love for Gopis, Love for Radha, Kans Vadh, Draupadi Cheerharan, Geeta Gyan, Gandhari’s curse to Krishna etc. in an exhaustive performance by a very talented group of artists.
SPARCH, Socio Panorama for Action Research and Communication Humane, is a NGO, operating since 2010, which aims to cultivate an interest in the rich cultural heritage of India, particularly among younger generation. They organise theatre and cultural festivals, theatre workshops, street plays etc to promote continuing and liberating education among people thus helping spread awareness about social reforms.
