Inter-school Aquatics
India under-10 national champion Sanjiti Shah, of BAF Petit, was the outstanding performer on a day when four new meet records were set in the the GMAAA Inter-School and Junior Colleges Swimming championships, hosted by Mandpeshwar Civic Federation swimming pool at Borivali here today.
Sanjiti won four golds and a silver, while setting two new records in the girls under-11 category. Sanjiti won the 100m individual medley with a new timing of 01:18.52 secs, thus bettering Avatika Chavan’s 2008 record of 01:18.76 secs, Later, she also won gold in the 50m butterfly event, again eclipsing Avantika Chavan’s 2008 (0:34.72 secs) by clocking 0:34.41 secs. While Srish Maulik, of RSB Arya Vidya Mandir, too won four golds in the boys under-11 section. In the process Srish set a new mark in the 50m breast stroke with a timing of 00:37.39 secs, which was better than Omkar Nehate’s 2009 record of 99.38.22 secs.
Sharing the day’s honours with Sanjiti and Srish, was Ananya Nayak, of Vibgyor, She rewrote the 25m breast stroke record in the girls under-7 section, by clocking 00:24.08 secs, thus improving upon Sanjiti Saha’s 2012 timing of 00:24.89 secs. Anannya also won three golds in the 25m freestyle, 25m back stroke and the record breaking breast stroke event.
