Navy score over Central Railway

A charged up Indian Navy enjoyed smooth sailing as they cruised to an emphatic 5-0 win against a listless Central Railway in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage football ground, on Friday evening.

Bubbling with confidence following their triumph in the G.V. Raja All India tournament in Kerala last month, the sailors were dominant from start. They combined brilliantly and with some neat passing bout completely outplayed their opponents who were clearly a disjointed lot and were unable put up much resistance before they caved in rather meekly.

After 15 minutes of initial probing, Indian Navy fired the first salvo with striker P.M. Britto doing the honours of finding the target and on the stroke of the half-time whistle Akash Kamble doubled their lead.

Navy continued to dictate term in the second period and eight minutes after resumption Raman Rai with a spectacular diving effort headed home the third goal before seasoned striker Riyad B. scored twice in the final three minutes to complete the demolition of Central Railway, who hardly had any serious attempt at the Navy goal.

The next Elite Division match will be played between Karnatak SA and G.M. Sports on Saturday, September 26 at 3.00 pm.

Results – Elite Div: India Navy 5 (P.M. Britto 16th, Akash Kamble 45th, Raman Rai 53rd, Riyad B. 87th, 90th) beat Central Railway 0.
