Air India,Western share honours


Air India and Western Railway shared honours playing out a 2-2 draw in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage football ground, on Saturday evening.

Defending champions Air India got off to a positive start and took the lead through Shubhas Chakravaty’s strike in the 12th minute. Western put up a good fight in the second half and scored twice in as many minutes through Kenniston in the 49th minute and Ravikant Naidu to snatch the lead.

However, Western were unable to defend the lead as Air India did not take too much time to draw level as Ryner Fernandes scored their second goal in the 56th minute.
Meanwhile, Soccer A-Z got the better of Atlanta FC by a close 3-2 margin in a First Division match played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel.

Earlier, Sagar SC put up a strong display to blank FC Mithagar 2-0 in Second Division encounter.
Dadar XI ‘B’ were awarded a walkover as FC Khar Sporting failed to turn up for their Second Division match.
Results, at Cooperage ground –Elite Div: Air India 2 (Subhas Chakravarty 15th, Rayner Fernandes 56th) drew with Western Railway 2 (Kenniston 49th, Ravikant Naidu 50th).
At St. Xavier’s ground, Parel –First Div: Soccer A-Z 3 (Arnab Vishwakarma, Hitesh Bhangera, Alviro Fernandes) beat Atlanta FC 2 (Unni, Imran Salman).
Div-II: Sagar SC 2 (Ashutosh Gaikwad , Praful Mangela) beat FC Mithagar 0.
Dadar XI ‘B’ w/o FC Khar Sporting.
