Union Bank score over KarnatakSA


Union Bank of India did well to register a hard-fought 2-1 win over a spirited Karnatak Sporting Association in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the Cooperage football ground, on Friday evening.

The Karnatak outfit against the run of play took the lead with their new recruit Michael Idewele finding the back of the net in the 22nd minute. Union Bank came back strongly and within five minutes found the equaliser through Tittus Uttankar before Shravan Shetty fired home the second goal in the 37th minute as the bankers went into the break with a slender 2-1 lead.
Later, Union Bank defended stoutly to deny the Karnatak attackers from getting the equalising goal and snatch a win and the three points.
Meanwhile, Dadar XI ‘B’ overcame Chedda Nagar Fanatics by a 1-0 margin in a First Division match played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel. Mohan Bhandari netted the lone goal of the match.

Earlier, Joshua Generation blanked Chemburites SC 2-0 in a Second Division encounter. Rohan Bhangera and Roshan Bhangera were on target for the winning side.
