The MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Elite Division League 2015-2016 season is schedule to kick-off, at the Cooperage football ground, from Monday, September 14, 2015.
A total of 14 teams will be fighting it out for the top honours in this competition which will be played on a single leg basis. The team which completes the league with the maximum number of points will be declared champions. The club with the second highest number of points will finish runners-up.
Central Railway and G.M. Sports will feature in the opening match, which is scheduled to be played on Monday at 3.00 pm.
Defending champions Air India will start the defence of their title when they take on Western Railway on Saturday, September 19.
Meanwhile, Mumbai FC the lone club from the city who will be participating in the AIFF I-League will open their campaign against Mumbai Customs on Wednesday, September 23.
Indian Navy, who had earlier this month defeated Air India to win the G.V. Raja All-India Football Tournament in Thiruvananthapuram, will play their first match against Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers on Wednesday, September 16.
The other six teams in the league include, ONGC, Kenkre FC, Union Bank of India, Karnatak SA, PIFA Colaba and Kenkre FC.
