On 5th September 2015 Saturday it will be ANJI at 6 Pm & 9 Pm, Ank presents Dinesh Thakur’s and Vijay Tendulkar’s matchless, satirical comedy, ANJI. Undaunted by the fact that she is getting on in years but is yet to find the right match, Anjali Sharma (Anji) sets out to search for her dream man herself. Anji has a positive attitude inspite of trying situations and a life going nowhere, but is yet stumped in the face of a pitiless society. An explosive climax persuades us to re-examine our value system, especially concerning women.
On 6th September 2015 Sunday it will be time for JIS LAHORE NAHI DEKHYA at 5 pm & 8 pm. This play is by Asghar Wajahat and is a powerful, human saga, directed by Dinesh Thakur with lyrics by Nida Fazli and music by Kuldip Singh. It is the story of two communities, who have suffered first-hand the horrors of the Partition and still have the strength and humanity to rise above petty hatred.
JIS LAHORE… set in the bygone era of the Partition, is very much a play of our times. While it recreates an era of nostalgic charm, after more than 250 shows, it has been able to successfully put across the important message of brotherhood which goes beyond the evil politician and fanatic to make a difference to the common man.
In the light of the spate of the recent terror attacks globally, it has become even more imperative to drive home the message of tolerance and mutual respect to prevent the birth of future terrorists. We need to continually remind ourselves that lines may divide countries, but they cannot divide human beings.
In the last twelve years, JIS LAHORE…. has become a play of national importance and has been counted among the ten best plays of the last decade.
