KSA score hard fought win


Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) struck once in each half to record a hard-earned 2-1 win against Union Bank of India in a first round match of the Independence Cup 2015 football tournament organised by MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) and played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Friday.

Striker Tushar Poojari scored the first goal for KSA, while Nigerian Steven E. netted the second to seal the win. Shravan Shetty scored the lone goal for the bankers.
Earlier, Mumbai Customs eked out a narrow 1-0 win against Sunday Boys with seasoned midfielder Praneel Mendon scoring the only goal of the match.

Later in the evening, Linekar Macado scored the all-important winning goal to guide Western Railway to an identical 1-0 win against Income Tax.

ICL 3 (Shane Menezes 2, Sumit Koli) beat Central Bank of India 1 (Alistair Anthony).

Karnatak SA 2 (Tushar Poojari, Steven E) beat Union Bank of India 1 (Shravan Shetty).

Central Railway beat GM Sports 5-4 via the tie-breaker. Full-time: 2-2.

Western Railway 1 (Linekar Machado) beat Income Tax 0.

HDFC beat Central Bank of India 4-2 via the tie-breaker. Full-time: 0-0.
