FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of those rare sports persons, who had performed a unique all-round feat which found his name along with other rare sportspersons figuring in the Limca Book of Records’ 26th Edition which was launched by Coca-Cola India on the first day of the Jaipur Literature Festival held at Jaipur recently.
Yashasvi scored a triple century and also claimed a 10 plus-wicket haul while playing for Anjuman Islam Urdu High School in the Giles Shield Cricket Tournament in Mumbai last January . He first claimed 8 for 59 in 21 overs with his right arm leg spin to skittle out Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya for 144 runs. And then Yashasvi, who bats left handed opened his side`s innings to score an unbeaten 319 as his team made 591 runs for two wickets decl. In the second innings he went on to claim 5for 40 to finish with the bowling figures of 13 for 99 to star in his side`s thumping innings and 368 run win.
All-rounder Yashasvi since last year’s stupendous achievement, has been consistently performing with both bat and ball. in last two seasons he has scored more than 18 centuries and have taken more then 125 wickets. And his performance has been rewarded by Twister Sports contract for cricket kit those are sponsoring him top quality of cricket goods.
His coach and mentor Jwala Singh has special view about this boy he says: ‘‘This is just a start for him he is the player with special talent,” he says that there have been many players in past who have scored big runs but Yashasvai is very different from others he is double performer. he carries equal ability’ he can score big runs and can also take big wickets as well if he can carry his hard work and same consistency he will go very long”
For a boy so young, he plays in the premier division of the Kanga League, representing Muslim United. He also played in the Talim Shield with distinction. This Rizvi spring field school boy has averaged over 100 in a couple of school level tournaments like Harris Shield, Giles Shield, Worli Cup, Ghosh trophy, twister mcc pro-40 league and B. Khichadia trophy. His highest in the Harries Shield was 153 not out, while averaging 126.5 in addition of haul of 19 wickets. In the Ghosh trophy he scored 65 not out and 168 not out with 2 wickets for DilipVengeskar foundation.
In the Giles shield he has notched up scores of 165, 104, 171 in succession and to boot it he claimed 17 wickets too. Also he has taken more then 15 wickets and 200 runs in A division kanga league and ongoing Talim Shield. His recent score of unbeaten 155 plus seven wickets helped Rizvi school score a thumping win in B. Khichadia, speak volumes of his consistency, both with bat and ball.
