Mazgaon Dock Triumphs Over Canara Bank, GIC RE Dominates Insurance Oriental in Oriental T20 Tournament

Mazgaon Dock’s  Mayur Gharat put up a solid all-round performance to register a comprehensive victory against Canara Bank in the Insurance Oriental T20 cricket tournament played at cross maidan.

Batting first, Mazgaon Dock found themselves in a tricky position as Canara Bank’s disciplined bowling attack kept things tight. However, Gharat and Santosh Pawaskar steadied the innings with valuable contributions. Both batters top-scored with 28 runs each, ensuring that their team posted a respectable total. Their efforts were crucial in providing stability, especially when early wickets threatened to derail the innings.

In response, Canara Bank’s chase never gained momentum, as Mayur Gharat turned the match on its head with an exceptional bowling performance. He picked up 4 wickets for just 28 runs, dismantling the batting lineup and ensuring his team stayed in command throughout, supporting him brilliantly was Mehul Parmar, who returned with impressive figures of 3 for 11 in just 3.2 overs. His tight bowling ensured that Canara Bank never got a foothold in the game, and eventually crumbled under pressure.

In the second match of the day, GIC RE registered a crushing 10-wicket win over Insurance Oriental, showcasing dominance in both batting and bowling.

Insurance Oriental struggled to build partnerships and were bowled out for 112 in just 15 overs. Their innings was largely reliant on a lone warrior, Vansh Devendra, who played a fighting knock of 72 runs. While other batters fell cheaply, Devendra held his ground and played some exquisite shots to keep his team in the contest. However, his effort was in vain as GIC RE’s bowlers were relentless. Hamza Shaikh was instrumental in breaking the backbone of IO’s batting lineup, returning with figures of 3 for 25. Alongside him, Kiran Datta produced a disciplined spell, scalping 3 wickets for just 15 runs. Their combined efforts ensured that Insurance Oriental never gained any momentum, and the innings folded much earlier than expected.

Chasing 113 for victory, GIC RE’s openers made light work of the target. Sankar Panshkar played a composed knock of 47*, anchoring the innings effectively. Meanwhile, Yug Vagheda was in scintillating form, smashing an unbeaten 63 to seal the match in emphatic fashion.
