Greater Mumbai make winning start


Greater Mumbai District started on a winning note defeating Sambhaji Nagar District 2-0 in a women’s team championship first round match of the Yonex Sunrise Shri Nandu Natekar Memorial Maharashtra State Senior Inter District (Team) and State Badminton Championship2024, conducted under the auspices of Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) and Badminton Association for Mumbai Upanagar (BAMU) and played at the Goregaon Sports Club on Sunday.

Talented youngster Naishaa Bhatoye played a stellar role in Mumbai’s victory. She first defeated Sanskruti Satarkar 21-8, 21-7 in the singles match and later combined well with Hrissha Dubeyand beat the Sambhaji combination of Sanskruti Satarkar and Sonali Mirkhelkar 21-15, 21-15 to secure the victory.

Results – Women’s Team Championship: Greater Mumbai beat Sambhaji Nagar 2-0 (Naishaa K Bhatoye bt Sanskruti Satarkar 21-8, 21-7; Hrissha Dubey/Naishaa K Bhatoye bt Sanskruti Satarkar/Sonali Mirkhelkar 21-15, 21-15).

Nasik beat Ahmednagar 2-0 (Varada Ekande bt Shreya Rathod 21-11, 21-11; Hetal Vishwakarma/Pranjal Andhare bt Shradha Malika/Tejal Kulal 21-5, 21-14).
