St. Stanislaus High School (Bandra) claimed their second successive title defeating arch-rivals Don Bosco High School (Matunga) by a 5-3 margin via the tie-breaker in a thrilling Junior Boys U-16 final of the St. Peter’s Hockey Tournament for the Late Gilbert Pereira Trophy, and organised by the St. Peter’s Youth Centre and played at the St. Stanislaus HS ground Bandra. The match finished in a 1-1 draw.
Ryan D’Souza scored for St. Stanislaus in normal play while Arnav Khot was on target for Don Bosco. In the tense penalty strokes duel, Stanislaus’ boys held their nerves and successfully scored through Ryan, Mark D’Mello Ethan D’Souza and Skye D’Costa to emerge champions. Don Bosco converted only three through Arnav, Sufiyan Talwar, and Arnav Phanse and finished on the losing side.
In the Junior Women’s final, SeaView Sports Club got the better of Duruelo Convent 2-0. SeaView scored their goals through Madhavi Patil, and Gurleen S. to secure their triumph.
Chief Guest, Dr. Geri Pereira presented the Late Gilbert Pereira Trophy to the SeaView girls’ and International John Fernandes handed the Late Gilbert Pereira Trophy to the St. Stanislaus boys.
