RBI Bank Shield Cricket Tournament 2023-2024
Citi Bank SC produced an impressive collective all-round performances and went on to register a resounding 9-wicket victory against Thomas Cook SC in a Plate Division Group-B match of the 62nd Sir Benegal Rama Rau Bank Shield Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by Reserve Bank of India under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the LIC CC ground, Oval Maidan.
Choosing to field first, Citi Bank’s spinners picked wickets at regular intervals to dismiss Thomas Cook for a paltry 75 all out in 17.4 overs. Off-spinners Vinayak Pillai four wickets for 16 runs and Alok Shastri three wickets for 14 and left-arm chinaman Jimit Dattani three wickets for 10 runs claimed the wickets. Thomas Cook’s Hrutik Thopte was the only batter who managed to score 22 runs.
In reply, Citi Bank’s opening batsman Sagar Chemburkar single-handedly scored most of the runs to take his team home reaching 76 for the loss of one wicket in just 5.4 overs. Chemburkar faced a major share of the bowling attack and smashed a 28-ball unbeaten 62 runs which included nine shots to the boundary ropes and three solid sixes. Dharmik Makwana picked the lone wicket.
In a group-C match, ICICI Bank defeated State Bank of India by a convincing 7-wicket margin. State Bank posted a total of 130 runs for 8 wickets from their 20 overs. The leading batters were Himanshu Rege 42 runs, Mayank Ranjan 31 runs and Ganesh Makute 20 runs. ICICI bowlers Aniket Kshirsagar three for 14, Prathamesh Hanjankar two for 21 and Kanchan Rangnath two for 32 were responsible in taking the wickets.
In response, ICICI Bank comfortably chased the target making 133 for three wickets in 17 overs. Sahil Madgaonkar struck an unbeaten 83 runs from 50 balls and studded with 10 well-struck hit to the fence and two over the fence. All-rounder Kanchan Rangnath was also unbeaten on 33 runs as the team crossed the finish line.

Result: ICICI Bank won by seven wickets.
Thomas Cook SC 75 all out, 17.4 overs (Hrutik Thopte 22; Vinayak Pillai 4/16, Jimit Dattani 3/10, Alok Shastri 3/14) lost to CITI Bank 76 for 1, 5.4 overs (Sagar Chemburkar 62* (28-balls, 9×4,3×6); Dharmik Makwana 1/12). Result: CITI Bank won by nine wickets.
