Western fight back to hold RBI 2-2


Western Railway produced a strong fight back by scoring two late goals to share honours with Reserve Bank of India in an interesting Premier Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2023-2024 and played St. Pius College ground, Goregaon on Monday.

Reserve Bank of India did well to score a goal in each half through Parag Dhanur in the 37th minute and Karan Jaiswar in the 74th minute to enjoy a commanding 2-0 cushion. But, the determined Western Railway outfit came roaring back to strike twice in the final moments of the match. First consistent goal-scoring Reuben D’Souza scored the first goal in the 78th minute before seasoned Somit P.T. struck the equalizer in the second minute of the additional period to snatch a draw and division of two points.

In a Second Division encounter, Strangerz FC proved too good for Judean United FC and romped to a fluent 3-0 win. Strikers Nayan Fodse, Abhishek Yadav and Piyush Dawra scored a goal each to complete Strangerz FC win.

Results – First Div: Worli SC 1 (Hitesh Purabiya) drew with Kapadia Nagar 1 (Debraj Biswas).

Second Div: Brilliance FC 1 (Prasad Jadhav) drew with Jeevies FC 1 (Jatin Kadam).

Strangerz FC 3 (Nayan Fodse, Abhishek Yadav, Piyush Dawra) beat Judean United FC 0.

Premier Div: Reserve Bank of India 2 (Parag Dhanur, Karan Jaiswar) drew with Western Railway 2 (Reuben D’Souza, Somit P.T.).
