Sourabh, Musheer star in Payyade SC’s triumph


Payyade Sports Club inspired by the brilliant combined performances of medium pacer Sourabh Singh five wickets for 34 runs and dashing opening bat Musheer Khan’s blistering knock of 87 runs emerged champion winning the MCA President Cup 2024. Payyade SC registered a resounding nine-wicket win against Victory Cricket Club in the final played under floodlights at the Sharad Pawar MCA Cricket ground, BKC on Saturday night.

Deciding to bowl first, Payyade bowlers received a beating initially as Victory CC raced to 73 in seven overs before Singh got the breakthrough picking the first wicket of Jay Bista for 52 runs. Later, Singh grabbed four more wickets to restrict Victory innings to 186 all out in 20 overs.`

The other batsmen who managed to get some decent runs on the board were Shaswat Jagtap 39 runs, Ayush Zimare 34 runs and Suraj Shinde 24 runs which lifted the Victory CC innings.

Later, Payyade’s young opener Musheer Khan was in great touch and batted aggressively as he flayed the rival bowling attack scoring his runs from just 37 balls and with 11 well-timed hits to the boundary ropes and six powerfully struck shots over the boundary ropes. Musheer’s opening partner Bhupen Lalwani added 60 runs and Prasad Pawar scored 41 runs to guide them to a big win with plenty to spare.

Brief scores – Final: Victory CC 186 all out, 20 overs (Jay Bista 52, Shaswat Jagtap 39, Ayush Zimare 34, Suraj Shinde 24; Sourabh Singh 5/34) lost to Payyade SC 190 for 1, 20 overs (Musheer Khan 87, Bhupen Lalwani 60, Prasad Pawar 41). Result: Payyade CC won by nine wickets.
