RCF T20 cricket inaugurated today


Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital snatched a narrow two-run victory against Mumbai Port Trust Sports Club in the first round match of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar T20 Cup Inter-Office Cricket Tournament 2024, being organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and played at the RCF Colony ground in Chembur starting on Monday.

Defending a low target of 121, Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital bowlers Devendranath Parida took 3 wickets for 18 runs and Ashley D’Souza claimed 3 wickets for 24 runs to restrict Mumbai Port Trust to 118 for nine wickets from the quota of 20 overs.

Sent in to bat, Nanavati Hospital were dismissed for a paltry 120 in 20 overs. Sai Chavan top-scored with 31 runs and Tushar Singh contributed 22 runs to prop the innings, while Mumbai Port Trust’s Dashrath Chavan grabbed 5 wickets for just 13 runs.

However, Mumbai Port Trust batters failed to get going as only Shreeraj Gharat managed to score 29 runs.

In the second match of the day, Mafatlal Cricket Club defeated CGST & CE Mumbai Zone by 27 runs.

Brief scores: Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital 120 all out, 20 overs (Sai Chavan 31, Tushar Singh 22; Dashrath Chavan 5/13) beat Mumbai Port Trust Sports Club 118 for 9, 20 overs (Shreeraj Gharat 29; Devendranath Parida 3/18, Ashley D’Souza 3/24). Result: Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital won by two runs.

Mafatlal Cricket Club 160 for 8, 20 overs (Harshad Khadiwala 58, Prasad Patil 28*; Deepak Shetty 3/32, Sagar Mishra 2/31) beat CGST & CE Mumbai Zone 133 all out, 19.2 overs (Sagar Mishra 38, Karan Vasodiya 29, Amit Dhiaya 20; Prasad Patil 4/28, Yash Singh 3/18). Result: Mafatlal CC won by 27 runs.
