Arquam shines in Modern CC win

Fine all-round performance from Ansari Arquam 34 runs and 2 wickets for 15 runs was the highlight of Modern Cricket Club’s narrow one run win against Shree Lad Cricket in a first round Group G & H Division league match of the Mumbai Cricket Association organized MCA President Cup Tournament, played at the M.B. Union ground, Cross Maidan on Saturday.

Batting first, Modern CC were bowled out for 123 in 20 overs. Ansari Arquam top-scored with 34 runs and Nishant Mane added 23 runs. Shree Lad bowlers Ankit Rajak 2 for 11 and Manesh Bhogle 2 for 23 claimed the wickets. In reply, Shree Lad Club fell short making 122 for 9 wickets from their quota of 20 overs. Aditya Shenadkar batted confidently making 51 runs, but his efforts went in vain. Sachin Sanghvi contributed 21 runs while Arquam 2 for 15, Ahmar Karte 2 for 20 and Kartike Savla 2 for 23 got the wickets to restrict Shree Lad batters.

In another match, Blue Star CC easily defeated Mongrol SC by five wickets. Mangrol SC were dismissed for a measly 91 runs in 17.4 overs and then Blue Star CC comfortably chased down the target reaching 93 for 5 wickets in 12.1 overs.

Brief scores – Group G&H: Gamdevi Cricketers 123 for 8, 20 overs (Arjun Lotlikar 56*; Saurabh Sorte 2/13) lost Aarey CC 126 for 5, 19.1 overs (Aditya Gangare 69, Rushikesh Raut 21; Sohan Rane 2/22, Medhankar 2/23).

United CCA 145 for 5, 20 overs (Tasyam Chavan 46, Patrick Alleb 27, Dipesh Golam 26) beat Bandra Gymkhana 121 for 7, 20 overs (Nikhil Jadhav 35; Ajeetkumar Kalwar 3/13, Pravin Singh 3/18).

Modern CC 123 all out, 20 overs (Ansari Arquam 34, Nishant Mane 23; Ankit Rajak 2/11, Manesh Bhogle 2/23) beat Shree Lad Club 122 for 9, 20 overs (Aditya Shenadkar 51, Sachin Sanghvi 21; Ansari Arquam 2/15, Ahmar Karte 2/20, Kartike Savla 2/23).

Mangrol SC 91 all out, 17.4 overs (Ashish Shetty 23; Satyam Yadav 5/6, Tanish Save 3/12, Anup Singh 2/15) lost Blue Star CC 93 for 5, 12.1 overs (Aditya Vishwakarma 72; Agnel Christopher 2/14, Makarand Raul 2/27).
