TOP SEED Sagar Kasture huffed and puffed before he quelled the spirited challenge of Sharveya Samant 4-2 in the men’s singles semifinals of the JVPGC -TSTTA-5-Star Mumbai Suburban District Table Tennis Championships last night at Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana . However, there was no stopping of Arnav Karnavar, seeded sixth, as he just brushed aside Aashay Pisal 4-0 on way to th title round In fact, Sagar earlier in the quarterfinal too, had to battle hard before he got the better of MCF’s Vishesh Sarda 3-2 .
But Sagar did make amends later in the boys (Under-19) singles semis, as he overpowered Dhruv Shah, who knocked out second seeded Vineet Deepak 3-0.
However, the day’s spotlight was grabbed by a 13-year-old school girl from Kandivali school, Divyanshi Bhomwick, who had bagged a triple crown earlier in the MCF tourney. Divyanshi is set to better her earlier performances , as she made the final in the women’s singles, girls under-19, under-17 and under-15 singles. However, she was made to fight hard by Risha Michandani in the women’s singles, before she triumphed 4-3 in the best of 7 games.
