The 3rd Masters’ Table Tennis Tournament organised by Maharashtra Masters’ Table Tennis Committee ( MMTTC) is all set to begin this weekend and Prabodhankar Thackeray Kreeda Sankul, Vile Parle ( PTKS) is getting ready to welcome the competitors in 40+ Masters’ category from all over Maharashtra. The tournament will be conducted in a big way at their 9000 + sq.ft. hall covered with quality floor mat for the entire playing arena.
There are 210 entries received in age wise individual singles events above 40 years in Men’s and Women’s events and 37 teams will be taking part from all over Maharashtra. This is a very good response for the tournament which is organised by a players’ committee for the veteran TT players. The enthusiasm of the players in conduct of this tournament is clearly noticed by way of sponsorship from some of the players themselves and well wishers coming forward in large number. The voluntary sponsorship for this tournament amounts to Rs. 2.75 lakhs, which is the biggest so far in the game of Masters’ TT.
A veteran player, who otherwise keeps a very low profile has come forward to sponsor Quality T shirts for all participants. Other two families will be sponsoring free towels, medals etc. to all participants. Free lunch on sunday and tea and snacks on saturday are additional benefits to the participants. There are some more well wishers , who are willing to sponsor other items; but they are kept on hold for the next tournament of the players’ committee. One thing is sure that cash prizes worth Rs. 1.25 lakhs + trophies, medals and certificates will be given to the winners. Moreover, the matches will be streamed live on youtube. Isn’t that a big success of players’ unity?
