Athletes trained at Sanjay Hegde Sports Foundation, Karjat and Sanpada are doing extremely well at different athletic meets held in the state. This season they have won many medals. Their latest achievement has been at the Swami Vivekanand Run held at Powai on Sunday. This event which attracted many athletes was powered by IRB and organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad, Powai, Chandivali Branch.
Three atheletes namely from Sanjay Hedge Sports Academy have won medals at this meet. Thanks to their Coach Nitin Patole, who is more than happy to see the progress of his students. The young medal winners from SHSA are Omkar Aakhade ( Sanpada Centre) who was placed 2nd in 5 kms run in Boys Under 16 group. In the Girls Under-16 group in 5 Kms run, Rutuja Bhosale ( SHSA, Sanpada) secured 2nd place Kamla Mansingh Saood secured 3rd place in this group. Other young participants from SHSA, who completed the run, received Finishers’ medals.
Incidentally, SHSA Karjat and Sanpada units are very active in training school children in various sports activities like Athletics, , Wrestling, Weight Lifting, Archery, Badminton, Table Tennis & Chess. And some of the the Boys and Girls are doing very well at the State level Wrestling, Weight Lifting and Athletics meets by winning medals. The trainees in other activities have also shown promise to perform at the competitive level and the SHSA Committee members will soon promote them in state level competitions.
