Many earlier held records were broken and new created by swimmers from prestigious schools – Bombay Scottish School, Mahim, Jamnabai Narsee School, Vibgyor etc. The occasion was 18th CISCE Zonal Swimming Championship 2023 (ZONE 1) held at Andheri sports complex and hosted by Jamnabai Narsee School yesterday.
The two day championship witnessed memorable moments in the sport of swimming with amazing events, stands full of enthusiastic swimmers, parents and supporters. Even te non stop Rains could not spoil their passion of the young swimmers to win medals for their schools and qualify for the regional championship.
Remarkable performance came from Saanvi Deshwal, 7th standard student of Bombay Scottish School, Mahim which is the highlight of the day. She continued with the same feat as last year and has created new meet records in all three events in Under -14 Girsl category. Older record created in 2013 by her school alumni student (Aditi Nazre) in 50m Breast stroke was rewritten by Saanvi. The Champion has improved records in 200m IM and 100m Breast stroke event winning the Best swimmer award in under 14 girls category.
Other new meet records created by other swimmers, included Anvi Deshwal in 50m Back in under 14 girls; Aanika Bhatia in 100m fly in under 14 girls and Nishtaa Shetty in 100m breast strokes in under 12 girls.
Overall, the rainy day ended with unwavering resolve of the Jamnabai Narsee School, the organisers who conducted the medal ceremonies in the rains, holding umbrellas for the chief guest and for the winners. The meet concluded with Jamnabai Narsee School winning the overall championship.
