PIFA scores late goal to hold Kenkre 1-1

PIFA Sports showed tremendous resilience as they struck a late goal to share honours with Kenkre FC in a well-conted 1-1 draw in in a Women’s Super Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza Ground, Bandra on Saturday morning.

Midway through the first half, Kenkre FC from a snap effort took the lead when striker Priya Rathod capitalized on an opportunity to score the opening goal of the match.

Stung by that setback, PIFA Sports got their act together and started to go all out in search of goals, but they failed to find the net during the first session and went into the break trailing 0-1.

After the teams changed ends on resumption, PIFA Sports continued with their efforts to find a much-needed goal. They mounted a lot of pressure on the rival citadel, but only found success at the fag end of the match. Striker Anita Rawat struck the equalising goal in the 86th minute which helped PIFA Sports salvage a draw and share two points with Kenkre FC.
