Western Railway and Air India scored easy victories in their respective Elite (Corporate) Division matches of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Monday.

The railwaymen produced a late charge and scored twice in the final 20 minutes of the match to tame the Reserve Bank of India stroming to a clear 2-0 win. For Western Railway striker Vijeesh Vijaya scored the first goal in the 70th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Later, Kenistan Cris struck the second goal in the 77th minute to double Western Railway’s lead and secure their win and the full three points.

Earlier, former champions Air India powered by Harsh Utekar’s double strikes defeated HDFC Bank 3-0 Dion Menezes netted the third goal for the winning team.

In an interesting First Division match, Rudra FC (JBU) and Om Saidham S.M. shared honours as they played out an exciting 2-2 draw. Rudra FC got their goals through Rohan Bhandari and Saad Sayed, while Om Saidham S.M. scored through the efforts of Tanish Gadge and Prathamesh Dhumal.\

In another match of the same division, YSA Bandra scored at the death and forced Feugio Tormento to a 1-1 draw. After a barren first Martin D’Souza gave Feugo Tormento a 1-0 lead, but YSA Bandra striker Aryan Hukumchand netted a late goal to help his team snatch a draw and a division of two points.

Results – Elite Div: Air India 3 (Harsh Utekar 2, Dion Menezes) beat HDFC Bank 0.

Western Railway 2 (Vijeesh Vijaya, Kenistan Cris) beat Reserve Bank of India 0.

First Div: Feugo Tormento FC 1 (Martin D’Souza) drew with YSA Bandra 1 (Aryan Hukumchand).

Rudra FC (JBU) 2 (Rohan Bhandari, Saad Sayed) drew with Om Saidham S.M. 2 (Tanish Gadge, Prathamesh Dhumal).
