6-Red snooker for billiards markers

Bernard Jamesh of Goregaon SC and Ravi Shetty of JVPG will face off in the opening match of the Bathija-P.J. Hindu Gymkhana 6-Red Snooker Open Markers Tournament, conducted under the auspices of BSAM and to be played at the Hindu Gymkhana billiards room from Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

Meanwhile, Shetty’s club mates, Jaitn Wahgela (JVPG) meets Chandrakant Dehrikar of Andheri Recreation Club and Vishnu Shirpurkar (JVPG) takes on Suraj Karande of Garware Club House in the other morning matches.

A total of 64 markers will be vying to emerge champions in this tournament, organized by former two-time Asian billiards champion and National billiards runner-up Dhruv Sitwala and Hindu Gymkhana.

Sitwala who finished runners-up to Brijesh Damania in the National billiards championship last December mentioned that “the billiards markers play quite a responsible role in the development of many players who have performed exceptionally well in domestic tournaments, national competitions and some on the international stage. But, there is not much scope for these markers to showcase their talents.”

“Keeping this in mind, I along with the P.J. Hindu Gymkhana have decided to acknowledge the efforts of these men who keep the scores and are often seen guiding the young talent, by organizing an exclusive tournament for these markers,” Sitwala further mentioned.

Trophies and cash awards will be presented to the winners and runner-up. Cash prizes would also be given to the losing semi-finalists, quarter-finalists, pre-quarter-finalists and the round of 32 losers. There would be a cash prize for the highest break.
