Former two-time Asian billiards champion and current India No. 2, Dhruv Sitwala along with the P.J. Hindu Gymkhana will be conducting the Bathija-P.J. Hindu Gymkhana 6-Red Snooker Open Markers Tournament, under the auspices of BSAM and to be played at the Hindu Gymkhana billiards room from May 27 to June 3, 2023.
Sitwala who finished runners-up to Brijesh Damania in the National billiards championship last December pointed out that “the billiards markers play quite a responsible role in the development of many players who have performed exceptionally well in domestic tournaments, national competitions and some on the international stage. But, there is not much scope for these markers to showcase their talents.”
“Keeping this in mind, I along with the P.J. Hindu Gymkhana have decided to acknowledge the efforts of these men who keep the scores and are often seen guiding the young talent, by organizing an exclusive tournament for these markers,” Sitwala further mentioned.
Trophies and cash awards will be presented to the winners and runner-up. Cash prizes would also be given to the losing semi-finalists, quarter-finalists, pre-quarter-finalists and the round of 32 losers. There would be a cash prize for the highest break.
The tournament is open to all billiards markers from Mumbai. But all entries will have to be submitted by the clubs or gymkhana’s in which the marker is employed.
The organisers will restrict participation and only the first 128 entries will be accepted.
