Mumbai Police march to another fluent victory


Maintaining their impressive winning momentum Mumbai Police City Riders marched to their fourth successive victory by recording an authoritative 7-wicket win against Ghatkopar Jets in a seventh round match of the Mumbai Cricket Club (MCC) and Jwala Sports Foundation (JSF) organized MitsuiShoji T20 Cricket League (Season 9), played at the Police Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive.

Opting to field, Mumbai Police bowled and fielded well to contain the Ghatkopar batters who managed to put up a modest total of 147 runs for 8 wickets from their 20 overs quota. Left-handed bat Siddharth Mhatre top-scored with 36 runs (18-balls, 3×4,2×6), Nikhil Patil Jr. scored 30 runs (26-balls, 3×6) and Ruturaj G. made 27 runs (14-balls, 1×4,2×6) to build the Ghatkopar innings. Medium pacer Deepak Shetty 2 for 14, left-arm spinner Sujit Nayak 2 for 26 and off-spinner Salman Khan 2 for 31 claimed the wickets for Mumbai Police.

In reply, Mumbai Police without too much of a fuss reached the winning target scoring 149 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 16 overs. Leading Mumbai Police charge was Tanmay Mayekar who smashed an unbeaten 52 runs (39-balls, 10×4), all-rounder Sujit Nayak also scored an unbeaten 43 runs (20-balls, 2×4,4×6) and Sagar Mishra contributed 20 runs (19-balls, 4×4).

In the second match, Shivaji Park Warriors continued with their all-win record as they handed Thane Marathas a 5-wicket defeat in another seventh round encounter. Batting first, Thane Marathas amassed a challenging total of 163 for 9 wickets, but Shivaji Park Warriors who are in terrific all-round form easily crossed the finish line reach 165 runs for 5 wickets in 18 Overs.

Anand Singh, Committee member of Jwala Sports Foundation presented the ‘Man of the Match’ trophies to Sujit Nayak of Mumbai Police and Yash Chavan of Shivaji Park Warriors.

Shivaji Park Warrior continue to stay in the lead with 14 points followed by Mumbai Police with 8 points and Ghatkopar Jets in third place also with 8 points. Thane Marathas with 4 points are in the fourth spot and Bandra Heroes with 2 points are at the bottom.

Thane Marathas 163 for 9, 20 overs (Rugved More 52, Ronak Shinde 37, Pranav Kela 32; Yash Chavan 4 for 31, Puneet Tripathi 2 for 28, Yash Dichalkar 2 for 30) lost to Shivaji Park Warriors 165 for 5, 18 Overs (Jayesh Pokhre 54, Siddhant Singh 44). Result: Shivaji Park Warriors won by 5 wickets.
