Air India Youth struck a late winner which enabled to snatch fighting 2-1 win against a spirited IDBI Bank in a evenly contested Super (Corporate) Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Monday.
After both teams created chances and made attempts to find the target, Air India’s striker Maan Soni finally found success in the 24 minute to give his team a slender 1-0 half time lead. IDBI came roaring back in the second period and in the sixth minute on resumption Jeevan Wadkar scored the equalizer to put his team on level terms.
However, as the match appeared to be heading for draw, Air India’s consistent goal-scorer Sujal Patil netted the decisive winner in the first minute of additional time to secure a satisfying win for the airmen and to collect all the three points.
Earlier, Manadanpura SC Under-19 defeated Kalina Strikers – Phoenix SC 3-2 in an exciting Third Division encounter.
