Kartik Rao strikes a late winner for D.K. Pharma


Substitute striker Kartik Rao scored at the death to help D.K. Pharma snatch a come from behind 2-1 win against Bombay Muslims SC in an exciting and well-contested Elite Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League, played at the Neville D’Souza ground on Monday.

After a barren first half, Bombay Muslims snatched the upper hand as Vishal Magre hit the target in the third minute of the second session. Midway through the second period, D.K. Pharma restored parity when skipper Zeeshan Akhter scored their first goal. As the match was heading for a draw Rao from a snap effort the decisive winner.

Earlier, Atlanta FC ground out another solid fighting performance as they rallied to overcome G.M. Sports Club by a 3-1 margin in another Elite Division match.

G.M. Sports Club the Atlanta citadel as Sudhakar Ranjan found the net in the very eighth minute and went into the break with a 1-0 advantage.

The defending champions came roaring back and completely dominated the second session scoring three goals during this period to secure their win. In the second half, captain Himanshu Patil scored two goals and Arif Shaikh fired home the third goal to complete another deserving win.
