Bombay Gymkhana Colts produced a strong fighting performance and got the better of Kopana FC by a comfortable 4-2 margin in the final of the Republic Day football tournament for the Nitu Mandke Cup organized by Mumbai Football Association (MFA) and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra.
The Bombay Gymkhana started in a rousing fashion and called the shots from the start to completely dominate play. Strikers Shaurya Thapa and Jaif Jamal both struck a brace of goals to seal Bombay Gymkhana triumph. Agasya Mangela and Gaurav Mangela scored one goal each as Mumbai United tried to put up a strong fight.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Bombay Gymkhana defeated Mumbai United FC by a narrow 1-0 margin. Prolific goal-scorer Kaif Jamal scored the all-important winning goal for the Gymkhana outfit.
n the second semi-final, Kopana FC prevailed over Rudra Soccer Stars by a 4-3 margin via the tie-breaker after the math finished in a goalless stalemate. Agasya Mangela, Gaurav Mangela, Roshan Mangela and Bipin Mangela, all successfully converted from the penalty spot for Kopana. Rudra Soccer Stars scored three through the efforts of Rohan Bhandari, Rohit Kanojia and Rohan Chikale.
