Cheatan Rajarwal struck good form and potted well to blank Zareer Shroff 3-0 in a first round qualifying match of the Rs 12.1 lakh prize-money CCI Snooker Classic 2023, organised by the Cricket Club of India, and played at the CCI’s Sir Wilson Jones billiards hall on Saturday.
The cueist constructed three notable breaks of 52 in the first frame and the compiled break of 42 and 40 in winning the third frame to complete a comfortable 68-12, 60-40, 106-16 victory.
In an interesting match, Parag Paithankar won a narrow deciding frame to overcome Jay Patil 3-2 (37-52, 45-44, 51-40, 7-52, and 57-43) to advance to the second round.
Meanwhile, Bakirao Pachare showed good touch and easily defeated Gaurav Vithlani cruising to a 3-1 (75-59, 78-47, 14-55, and 73-6) win, while Suraj Shirke prevailed over Harsh Rangari winning in straight frames 3-0 (64-24, 57-51, and 62-18).
