CCI’s upcoming talent Eva Gupta, Amaira Mehta and Yusuf Pardiwala, all won their respective second round matches in the77th CCI-Western India Slam squash championship organized by the Cricket Club of India (CCI) under the auspices of the SRFI (Squash Raquets Federation of India) and played at the refurbished CCI squash courts on Monday.
CCI youngster Yusuf Pardiwala defeated Burhan Bhanpurawala 11-2, 9-11, 13-11, 11-6 in a boys’ under-13 second round encounter.
In the girls’ under-13 competition, Eva faced quite a strong challenge from Jai Lende but stayed focused and managed to carve out a satisfying 11-4, 12-14, 12-10, and 11-8 win, while Amaira enjoyed a more relaxed time and defeated Soniya Waghamare in straight games at 11-9, 11-5, 11-5.
Meanwhile, Yusuf Pardiwala played confidently to overcome Burhan Bhanpurawala 11-2, 9-11, 13-11, and 11-6 in a boys’ under-13 second round encounter.
Another youngster who trains and practices at the CCI courts, Arman Darukhanawalla also tasted success defeating Udit Sharma in four well-contested games winning at 11-8, 11-9, 7-11, and 11-5 to advance to the third round.
In a engrossing boys’ under-11 round of 32 match that went the distance, Armaan Choudhary fought back from the brink of defeat to overcome Parshuram Lachaka winning at 8-11, 5-11, 11-6, 11-9, and 11-9.
