Maharaja SC claimed the top honours in the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) organized ‘Founders Day’ invitation veterans sports festival at the Neville D’Souza turf, Bandra.
The fancied Maharaja team finished with a tally of 44 points to emerge champions, while Manadapura SC was a distant second with 18 points. Mumbai Knights and Taxmen were joint third with 16 points each.
The MFA celebrates November 14, the birth anniversary of Late Commander Kehar Singh’s, VSM (India Navy), who was one of the founder members of the Mumbai District Football Association as the ‘Founder’s Day’. To mark the occasion and as a tribute to Kehar Singh, who had played a big role in promoting football in the city, the MFA organized the 5-a-side veteran’s football tournament.
Chief Guests, Ranvir Singh & Mrs. Jatinder Kaur (son & daughter of Late. Cdr. Kehar Singh), and Surendra Karkera (founder of Bipin Football Academy) were present on the occasion and presided over the prize-distribution function.
