Impressive Divyanshi Bhowmick wins Girls’ U-13, U-15 crowns


Upcoming table tennis player Divyanshi Bhowmick  from Ryan International School, Kandivali was impressive and enjoyed a very successful day, clinching a grand double by winning the girls’ under-13 and under-15 singles titles in the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana (JVPG) Club sponsored JVPG-TSTTA District Table Tennis Championship 2022, and played at the JVPG Club table tennis hall.

The talented Divyanshi showed excellent control and played confidently as she outplayed her opponents in both the finals.  Divyanshi’s double crowns turned out to be the best gifts for their family during Diwali , as the family also celebrated birthday of Divyanshi’s father Rahul Bhowmick.

In the under-13 title round, Divyanshi enjoyed smooth sailing and quickly won the first two games before encountering a little challenge in the third which she managed to win over extra points to complete a satisfying 11-3, 11-7, and 13-11 verdict to emerge champion.

Later, in the clash with Vaishnavi Jaiswal for the under-15 crown Divyanshi once again held the upper hand. Divyanshi forced the pace and dominated from the start and went on to register an 11-2, 11-4, 11-5, and 11-4 victory to win her second gold medal.

Param Bhiwandkar

There was double joy for Param Bhiwandkar as well. The determined Param underlined his supremacy over Zain Shaikh defeating him in both the boys’ under-11 and boys’ under-13 finals to grab both the titles.

In the under-11 final, Param was steady and showed better consistency to overcome Zain in four games winning at 11-6, 11-3, 3-11, and 11-7. Later, Param maintained the winning momentum as he dashed the spirited challenge from Zain and went on to carve out a hard-fought 11-5, 10-12, 4-11, 11-8, and 11-4 victory.

Later, Dhruv Shah and Yuvraj Yadav were locked in an engrossing battle for the boys’ under-15 title and the match went the distance. Dhruv after trailing 1-3 fought back in splendid fashion by winning the last three games in succession to record a tense 10-12, 11-6, 7-11, 8-11, 11-5, 11-5, and 11-5 win to take the gold medal.

Little Aarya Redak claimed the girls’ under-11 crown defeating Myraa Sangelkar 11-8, 11-5, 11-5 in the final.
