Tanay Mehendale claimed a double crown winning the boys’ under-15 singles and doubles finals in the Late Shri Kishor Atmaram Palekar Yonex Sunrise Shuttle Craze Maharashtra State Open Sub-Junior Badminton Championship 2022, being organised by Shuttle Craze at the Andheri Sports Complex badminton courts.
In the singles final, the number one seed Tanay prevailed over unseeded Harsh Katariya winning 21-15, 21-18. In the doubles event, the top-seeded pair of Sean Pereira and Tanay Mehendale overcame a strong challenge from Deon Gonsalves and Ruturaj Chipat before snatching a 21-19, 18-21, and 21-13 win.
Mrunal Potdar won the girls’ under-15 singles title. In the final, Mrunal recovered after losing the first game to defeat Myra Oak 16-21, 21-9, 21-13 to emerge champion.
