Nishika Prakash scored a brace of goals to steer Kenkre FC to a comfortable 3-0 victory against FSI Navi Mumbai in a ninth round match of the Maharashtra State women’s football league played at the Cooperage football ground. The champions of this competition will qualify for the AIFF Indian Women’s Football League.
Kenkre FC called the shots from the start and striker Nishika shot them in front, scoring the first goal in the eighth minute of the match. Four minutes later Harshika got on the scoresheet netting the second goal to give Kenkre a 2-0 lead at the break.
Nishika once again found the back of the net with Kenkre’s third goal in the 80th minute and sealed the win.
Later, in a one-sided encounter, formidable PIFA Sports (Colaba) FC proved too strong for Lawless United and charged to an emphatic 16-0 win after enjoying a massive 7-0 cushion at the end of the first session.
Prolific goal-scorers Sasmita Behera and Karen Pais led PIFA’s charge scoring five and four goals respectively. Payal struck three goals and Anita Rawat 2 scored a brace of goals, while Mamta Kumari and Dolly Kumari contributed one each to complete the massive margin of victory.
