FSI Navi Mumbai struck superb form and stormed to a comfortable 3-0 win against Lawless United in an eighth round match of the Maharashtra State women’s football league played at the Cooperage football ground. The champions of this competition will qualify for the AIFF Indian Women’s Football League.
Earlier, in another match, Warriors of Kolhapur took a first half lead and went on to defeat Puneri Warriors 1-0. Striker Samrudhi Katkole fired home the lone goal in the 38th minute.
The Navi Mumbai girls showed excellent coordination and were in complete control throughout the match. They opened the scoring through Vidisha Sawant in the 25th minute before Ritu Walmiki doubled the lead hitting the back of the Lawless United net in the 43rd minute to give FSI Navi Mumbai a healthy 2-0 half-time cushion.
On resumption FSI Navi Mumbai increased the lead when Bhoomi Nagda struck the third goal in the 54th minute to complete the winning tally.
