Powered by the twin strikes from Akanksha Kandalkar, PIFA Sports (Colaba) FC recorded a thumping 4-0 win against Kenkre FC in a Maharashtra State women’s football league match played at the Cooperage football ground on Friday.
Mamta Kumari opened the scoring in the 25th minute to give PIFA the lead before Akanksha converted a penalty in the 37th minute to double the lead. Later, Dolly Kumari added the third in the 64th minute and two minutes later Akanksha struck the fourth to round off the margin of victory.
In another match, Footie First and Puneri Warriors shared the spoils as they played out an exciting 2-2 draw. Preetha Nayak and Nahida Khatoon scored a goal each for Footie First, while Puneri Warriors scored through Nilisha Sanket and Rutuja Gunwant 60.
Results: Footie First 2 (Preetha Nayak 16, Nahida Khatoon 65) drew with Puneri Warriors 2 (Nilisha Sanket 37, Rutuja Gunwant 60).
