Garware Club House ‘Garware Wildcards’ cueist Bhavesh Jain showed tremendous confidence and went for his shots which helped him to clinch a decisive win against Radio Club ‘Radio Rockets’ Merzi Screwala in the deciding third frame and snatch a tense quarter-final win for his team in the CCI-Kekoo Nicholson BSAM Billiards League 2022 played at the Cricket Club of India’s Wilson Jones billiards hall late Thursday evening. The league is being held in memory of Late Kekoo Nicholson, an ardent billiards enthusiast.
Joining Garware Wildcrads in the semi-finals are hosts Cricket Club of India ‘CCI Billiards Boys’, Park Club ‘PCL Beach Boys’ and Mandpeshwar Civic Federation ‘MCF Tough Men’.
After the Razmi siblings, Rayaan and Shahyan had won the opening two frames and had given Rockets a 41 point advantage, Jain (+55 handicap) had to score 200 points, while Screwala (+40) was left with the task of making 159 points to secure their win. The scores ran close throughout and the contest was heading towards a tight finish, but Jain managed to stay focused to accumulate some crucial points which ensured he won the frame and the team emerged victorious.
In the other matches, Amit Sapru (-10) once won a crucial third frame this time against Anurag Bagri (-10) and helped PCL Beach Boys (+30) defeated ECC Elfies Stars (-5) by 592-555 points, MCF Tough Men (-35) despite giving SPG Gentlemen (+70) a 105 points advantage managed to come through posting a comfortable 565-455 win. Chandu Kasodaria, Rohan Jambusaria and Akshay Gogri, all won their respective frames to ensure their victory. Home challengers, CCI Billiards Boys (+110) recovered to turn the tables on Khar Gymkhana KG Titans (+10) clinching a 610-569 verdict.
