Central Bank of India showed plenty of resilience and determination as they recovered to overcome Bank of Baroda 4-2 in thrilling the Elite Division League football match played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Thursday evening.
Bank of Baroda started in rousing fashion and striker Denzil Mascarenhas scored twice in the first period to give his team a 2-0 half-time lead. Despite those setbacks, the Central Bank players remained calm and instead they gallantly fought back to turn the tables on their opponents. Ace sharpshooter Kamran Anasri once again showed brilliance of his scoring form and struck all four goals in the last 15 minutes to help his team clinch a deserving victory.
The contest between the two bank outfits was a closely fought affair. Bank of Baroda against the run of play struck two goals through Denzil to gain ascendancy.
However, the determined Central Bank side pressed hard and their dependable and proficient goal-scorer Kamran lifted them up scoring the first goal in the 76th minute. He continued to torment the rival goal and added three more goals to complete a classic victory for his team.
Result: Central Bank of India 4 (Kamran Ansari 4) beat Bank of Baroda 2 (Denzil Mascarenhas 2).
