Inspite of brilliant efforts by man-of-the-match Faizan Rabbani (111 with 16 fours and 3 wickets, MCC (Green) were beaten by MCC (Yellow) by 29 runs in the semi-final of the 6-team MCC Double leg MCC 40-over League, at Oval Maidan today. “Yellow” now will take “Black” , who had earlier humbled defending champions MCC (Red) in the other semifinal, for the coveted trophy.
Put into bat,”Yellow” top order batters did well to hit up 238 for eight, which included 20 penalty runs. Keyur Trivedi top-scored with 66.Kaizan bowling spinners claimed three wickets for 49 runs off eight jovers. In reply, “Green” batters,barring Kaizan,who hammered 111 with 16 fours, crumbled for 209 in 31.4 overs.
In the other semifinals, Skipper Sahil Jadhav mixing caution with aggression hit up an unbeaten 78 for “Black” as they chased “Red” score of 197 with five wickets in hand.
