After two years’ inactivities due to Covid-19 crisis, Jwala Sports Foundation in association with MCC (Mumbai Cricket Club) have roped in former Sri Lankan legendary fast bowler Chaminda Vaas and former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer to coach the boys and girls in different age groups during their annual ‘Center Of Excellence For Cricket’ camp, to be held from May 10 to 31.
The boys, who have been selected during their ‘Talent Search’ events, for this coaching scheme , will be presented with certificates. This year the coaching will be imparted in different venus in Mumbai, like Oval Maidan, Police Gymkhana , ‘MCC 365 Days’ in Thane and Air India Sports Club at Santacruz (East).
Vaas and Wasim will be assisted by ex Mumbai Ranji coach Vinayak Samant, ex- Mumbai under-25 coach Rajesh Pawar, and ex-head of NIS Debashish Bachi. These legendary coaches will offer their guidance and expertise to the players regarding different skills, fitness, match temperament, and also on mental health required at the highest level.
The entire concept of this coaching scheme is being conceptualised by MCC Director Mr Jwala Singh. Present Mumbai Ranji trophy players like Prithvi Shaw and Yashasvi Jaiswal, and many other players have been the products of their ‘Center Of Excellence For Cricket’ camp, which is being regularly conducted year after year, barring the Covid-19 period.
