Powered by Atharva Minde’s brilliant unbeaten century knock of 115 runs paved the way for Kshatriya Cricket Club’s massive 110-run win against Sunrise Cricket Club in a Group-D section match of the MCA Dr. H.D. Kanga knockout cricket tournament 2022, and played at the Sunder CC ground, Cross Maidan.
Preferring to bat first, Atharva’s huge effort saw Kshatriya CC score 272 for 9 wickets in 45 overs. Samrat Misal contributed 37 runs while Sunrise CC bowler Arnav Bakshi claimed 4 wickets for 48 runs. Sunrise CC batsmen were unable to offer much resistance and were bowled for 162 runs in 30.1 overs. Smith Dave remained not out for 47 runs and Vedant Pisat chipped in with 46 runs. Kshatriya CC bowler Nimish Sandane finished with 3 for 21 runs.
Worli Cricket Club also enjoyed a successful day and defeated Young Association Cricket Club by a comfortable 140 runs at the Young Zoroastrian ground, Azad Maidan. Sent in to bat first, Worli CC were dismissed for 189 runs in 40.5 overs. The main run-scorer for Worli CC, was all-rounder Mohd. Shoeb Sayyed 34 runs and Dharmenda Morya with 33 runs, while Young Association bowler Varun Kadam took 3 for 38 runs. Later, Worli CC bowlers Shoeb Sayyed 3 for 3 runs and Sandeep Yadav 3 for 13 runs bundled out Young Association for a measly 49 runs in 23.1 overs.
In a high-scoring and thrilling match, Bengal Club clinched a narrow 2-wicket victory against Friends Sports Club at the DPC ground, Matunga. Friends SC electing to bat first posted a challenging total of 261 for 8 wickets in 45 overs. Abhishek Satam and Yash Patil were the leading run-scorers contributing 73 and 71 runs respectively, while Karan Gupta made 38 runs. Bengal Club rose to the challenge and managed to reach 263 for 8 wickets in 44 overs to snatch victory. Poorav Chheda scored an unbeaten 52 runs, Aaradhya Mayekar also scored 52 runs, Amogh Gawade 40 runs, and Raj Kawathakar 37 runs helped Bengal Club coast to victory.
