Rovin, Chandresh record 5 successive wins


Chandresh Shah of JVPG and Rovin D’Souza of Hindu Gymkhana with an all-win record topped Group-A and Group-B respectively and advanced to the next phase of the SPG-PCL Billiards Tournament 2022, and played at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana and Park Club billiards halls.

In a Group-A encounter, the seasoned campaigner Chandresh played steadily to tame the challenge from Park Club’s Lalit Jham coasting to a 320-172 victory to seal his fifth straight win in the group.

Rovin also maintained his excellent winning run of form and recorded his fifth successive victory in the group when he outplayed Parag Paithankar of Matoshree Club by charging to a 218-122 win.

Khar Gymkhana’s Sumehr Mago also had a rewarding day by winning two back-to-back Group-D matches. Sumehr first tamed Jayrai Amaney of Chembur Gymkhana winning at 267-89 and then got the better of Shubham Randhe of ECC by a close 190-160 points margin.

Sumehr’s club mate Akash Asrani also registered twin victories in Group-A and finished second behind Chandresh in the group. Akash prevailed over Lalit Jham of Park Club scoring a 144-118 win and then outshone SPG’s Viram Nerlekar coasting to a fluent 228-134 win.

Group-D: Sumehr Mago (KG) beat Jayrai Amaney (CG) 267-89; Sumer Mago (KG) beat Shubham Randhe (ECC) 190-160; Mahadev Bhogle (JVPG) beat Jayraj Amaney (Chembur) 246(43)-89; Anant Mehta (PCL) beat Jayraj Amaney (CG) 155-99.
